International Communication students organise seminar for Chinese delegation
For their fourth-year specialisation International Business Communication (IBC), students of the International Communication (IC) programme organised a seminar early November entitled “Silk Route in Modern Times”.
A “twin city” agreement was signed between Groningen and Xi’an at the end of the seminar, which was witnessed by members of the local government as well as various companies situated in the North of the Netherlands. The agreement aims to stimulate business and knowledge exchange between the two cities. Mayor of Groningen, Mr. Peter Rehwinkel, personally thanked the IC students for taking care of the communication for the event.
IC students were also involved in setting up a special meet and greet in the city centre and two promotion days at Martiniplaza. Dutch companies and the Chinese delegation had the opportunity to establish business relationships. The students helped link companies and gave advice on how to deal with cultural differences.
Currently, IBC students are actively helping with the organisation and promotion of the Confucius China Light Festival, held in Hortus Haren in December and January.
The International Communication major is a four-year programme which prepares students for an (international) career in communication. For more information please click here.
