For study programmes in English a minimum English language proficiency is required. The English language proficiency must be proved by submitting a test score (not older than two years) from IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge/ESOL. For the intake of students in February 2013, the English criteria generally are:
- Bachelor IELTS 6.0*
- Master IELTS 6.5*
- Preparatory course (6 up to 12 months) IELTS 5.0
- Preparatory course (6 months or shorter) IELTS 5.5

Exemptions
Students will be exempted from submitting an extra language proficiency test in the following cases:
- EU/EER students, who can prove that English was a compulsory course in their prior education, and who have a pass for English on their final transcript.
- Students whose prior education was English-taught in countries where English is spoken as a first language by the majority of the population. These countries are: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada (English speaking part), Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Christopher and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America.
- Students with an International Baccalaureate or European Baccalaureate.
- Exchange students are not required to submit proof of their proficiency in English. Partner institutions are expected to select students who meet the requirements for fee-paying Bachelor students: TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.0.
