At Hanze University of Applied Sciences (UAS), Groningen we actively choose to create room for excellence in the learning and research activities that go on here every day. Our aim is to develop an ambitious academic culture. We achieve this through our excellence programmes, and by offering elite study programmes in the schools, allowing us to create room for excellence in our existing study and research programmes.
For us, recognising, acknowledging and encouraging excellence is an essential part of our role as a knowledge institute: to educate outstanding professionals. We give all of our students, including the most talented, room to fully develop themselves within the knowledge community that is Hanze UAS.
Room for excellence at Hanze UAS means:
- Talented students become excellent professionals
- Creating an ambitious academic culture
- Excellence programmes are designed for the hand-picked "top 5 to 10%” of students
- Excellence is viewed from the perspective of "lifelong learning", ambition geared to the job market and further study and development
- A differentiated approach is needed for excellent students; there is no standard approach for all students and all study programmes
- Preparing and implementing programmes for excellent students with appropriate teaching methods provided by excellent tutors.
All of the 19 Hanze UAS schools organise their Room for Excellence strategies in different ways. They do this by offering one or more specific excellence programmes.
Hanze Honours College
Hanze UAS offers ambitious students about 45 excellence programmes. All these programmes together form the Hanze Honours College.
