NEXT WELCOMING DAY: 2 FEBRUARY 2012

On Thursday 2 February, Hanze UAS organizes a Welcoming Day for all new international students.

Programme Welcoming Day
09.30 – 10.30 hrs
Arrival at the Hanze UAS Campus
Reception & issuance of arrival envelope

10.30 – 11.15 hrs
Welcoming speech by the Executive Board
Explanation social programmes by representatives of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) and IBS-Union

11.15– 12.30 hrs
Information sessions ‘Introduction into Dutch Culture and Education’ and ‘Practical Matters’

12.35 – 14.00 hrs
Lunch and information market, possibility to register for social introduction programme, and to make an appointment with the bank

14.00– 16.00 hrs
Non-EER students only: issuance of residence permits by the Immigration and Naturalization Department ( IND). and receipt of cash payment. Do not forget to bring your passport!

The Welcoming Day will be followed by the following events:

ESN Social Introduction programme
(3 February until 8 February)
European Student Network Groningen (ESN) will organize a social introduction programme for all new international students in Groningen, see the ESN website.

TBC check up for non-EER students (Friday 3 February)
13.00 – 16.00 hrs
Obligatory TBC check-up (requirement for residence permit) at the Zernike campus, Zernikeplein 11.


Previous editions

2 September 2011
Our previous Welcoming Day, on 2 September 2011, was another great success. More than 700 international students attended this day and visited the market, listened to speeches and enjoyed the lunch.


2 February 2011 
This Welcoming Day was a great success. 150 international students from different countries joined our Welcoming Day on 2 February.

After a welcome from mr H.J. Pijlman, president Executive Board at Hanze (UAS), Erasmus Student Network and International Business School-Union (IBS-U) presented their services and activities.

In different classrooms students were introduced into Dutch Culture and Education. The International Student Office (ISO) addressed important practical matters.


3 September 2010
More than 600 international students attended our Welcoming Day and almost 100 people watched our live broadcast.

Parents, friends and family were invited to join our Welcoming Day via a livestream on our website. The local news network 'Oog TV' made the following item about our Welcoming Day
