The international guests of Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen can apply for furnished accommodation through the Housing Office, which is an organization that acts as an intermediary in finding temporary accommodation for students and staff from abroad.
International student houses
The Housing Office is a non-profit housing association and is our preferred supplier for short stay rooms. It tries to find suitable accommodation for a reasonable price. The Housing Office has 10 international student houses with all together almost 1200 furnished rooms, most of them with shared facilities. In each student house there will be a (Dutch) student manager. He or she is your first contact before you arrive in your room and will welcome you in the building as soon as you arrive. Most of them will live in the same house as you are living in. You can rent a room in an international student house for the maximum period of 12 months. After this period you have to find a room yourself.
Curious what living in an international student house is like? Watch the following videos to get an impression: housing office Winschoterdiep or housing office Blekerslaan.
You can also ask for a room on the private market. This can be the room of a Dutch student who is going abroad for one semester or a room in a house of a landlord. On the private market, you may be able to rent for a longer period than 12 months.
You can apply for a room at www.housingoffice.nl. The International Student Office of Hanze UAS will be asked to confirm the application. We confirm on the condition that you are a new student, and that you are either accepted or provisionally accepted.
Confirming housing applications based on admission allows us to facilitate a fast housing procedure and improves the chance that you find a room of your liking. Payment of registration costs, deposit and first month rent will have to be made out directly to the Housing Office.
