Immigration

To come to The Netherlands and to live in Groningen means that you have some immigration formalities to deal with. Depending on your nationality and length of stay, the amount of paperwork to take care of may vary. Failing to meet Dutch immigration requirements may result in you not being able to study at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen.

The Dutch immigration authorities (the ‘IND’) make sure that the immigration policy of the Dutch government is carried out accurately. Hanze (UAS) works closely together with the IND to make sure that immigration matters are arranged properly, enabling you to come and study at Hanze (UAS).

The International Student Office is the office within Hanze (UAS) that handles all immigration related matters for her students. We will point out the requirements to you and will guide you through the rules and regulations. Our aim is to assist you properly and timely for a good start in Groningen. You will read that there is a big difference between the requirements for students with an EU/EEA nationality and students with a non-EU/EEA nationality.
