Dutch Immigration has divided all countries in 4 immigration groups, relating to the Dutch immigration requirements. On the website of Nuffic (Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education) you can find out which requirements apply to you. You can consult www.nuffic.nl or click directly on Student Visa Wizard You can also check the requirements yourself at www.ind.nl (click on English).
Group I:
Students from Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom:
- Do not need an MVV;
- Do not need a residence permit, but may register with IND;
- Do not need a work permit (should you wish to work part-time);
- Do need to register as a citizen of Groningen.
Group Ia:
Students from Bulgaria and Romania:
- Do not need an MVV;
- Do not need a residence permit, but may register with IND;
- Do need a work permit (should you wish to work part-time);
- Do need to register as a citizen of Groningen.
Group II:
Students from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Vatican City, South-Korea and United Stated of America:
- Do not need an MVV;
- Do need a residence permit (stay over 3 months);
- Do need a work permit (should you wish to work part-time);
- Do need to register as a citizen of Groningen;
- Do need to hand in proof of legal residence for school registration.
Group III:
Students from Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Singapore, Uruguay and Venezuela:
- Do need an MVV (stay over 3 months);
- Do need a residence permit (stay over 3 months);
- Do need a work permit (should you wish to work part-time);
- Do need to register as a citizen of Groningen;
- Do need to hand in proof of legal residence for school registration.
Group IV:
Students from all other countries:
- Do need an MVV;
- Do need a residence permit;
- Do need a work permit (should you wish to work part-time);
- Do need to register as a citizen of Groningen;
