The most important job you face as a starting musician or ensemble is integrating into the professional music world. You do not wish to be on the sideline, but actively take part in a music work place, that consists of many other musicians, ensembles, venues, concert organisations, agents, festivals, educational institutions etc.
Many starting musicians make the mistake of thinking too much in terms of promotion, products and performances. You certainly need these things, but what you eventually need most are people! In order to make a successful entry into the profession, you will have to make new contacts and use the ones you already have. This means that you have to work on your professional and social network. This is an ongoing process which requires you to invest in it continuously!
