Sara Stegen
Management assistant
Sara Stegen studied English at the University of Groningen and graduated in 1998. During her studies she discovered that policy and organisations were of greater interest to her, so she looked for challenges outside her study of English. She first worked as a management assistant in a care home and after this as a project assistant at Nieuwe Arbeid Projecten (New Work Projects). For the past seven years she was a regional coordinator in the field and branch leader of the northern division of the MaagLeverDarmstichting (MLDS). Here she was responsible for fund raising and supervising co-workers and volunteers. She also improved administrative and work processes. She took a course to study the analysis of processes and change processes in organisations at the Lean Consultancy Group in 2011. On Januari 1, 2012 she started her work for the research group.

Annejoke Smids
Marketing & Communication / translations / project support
Annejoke Smids studied English at the University of Groningen and graduated in 1997. Before this she completed a training as management secretary at Boerhave Institute and a training as English teacher at Noordelijke Leergangen. She worked as a journalist for various magazines and newspapers, such as the Dagblad van het Noorden, where she was a reporter of citynews and had her own column. She also worked at various advertising agencies, one of them Ogilvy & Mather, where she was copywriter in a creative team. Annejoke Smids also writes children’s books. www.annejokesmids.nl

Linda Hendriks
Marketing & Communication
Linda Hendriks graduated from the University of Groningen, where she studied Communication, in 1994. After working as a reporter/ newsreader for a local radio station in Groningen and as a public relations official for the Council of Overijssel, she became a PR-official at the Prins Claus Conservatoire. In 2000 Linda Hendriks was appointed Account Manager Communication at the Faculty of Arts of the Hanzehogeschool Groningen. In addition she did PR for the Peter de Grote Festival from 1997 to 2004, a combination of an international summer school for string players and pianists with a series of chamber music concerts in the city and province of Groningen. In 2004 she completed her studies as a primary school teacher.

Henriette van Sytzama
Programme manager Centre of Applied Research and Innovation Art & Society

Henriette van Sytzama studied Law in Leiden, where she started her studies in 1994. Before this she went to Schoevers for a secretarial course. When her children were small she worked as a secretary at a law firm and for a representative of the province of Noord-Holland in the Netherlands. Most recently she was head of the regional branch of a human resources agency in Friesland, where she was also the deputy director. She started her work for the Centre of Applied Research and Innovation Art & Society on 1 January 2012 and will start her work as a programme manager in March.

Karolien Dons
Project manager Music and Dementia
Karolien Dons (1985) studied Musicology at Ghent University (Belgium) and Music Psychology in the Music, Mind and Technology master’s programme at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland). She took part in research projects during her studies concerning physical responses to music and music and movement research. As part of her graduation in musicology she observed musical life in Flemish monasteries. The research with which she gained her degree in music psychology was about the use and effects of music in sports performances.
Karolien Dons is also a committee member of the Working Group Youth of the European Music Council. She has been vice-chair of the group since 2010.
Currently Karolien is project manager Music and Dementia within the research group LLM.
