Musicians must be able to engage with flexibility in a diversity of contexts. Traditionally perfoming has a central place in the musician's profession. However musicians are being asked to make music for and with new audiences and in new contexts more and more frequently.

This ensemble played an improvisation, based on a traditional Dutch song: 'Al die willen te Kaap'ren varen' (All who want to sail to the Cape). The improvisation was aimed at elderly people living with dementia.
In the research strand Healthy Ageing through Music & the Arts research is carried out into the development of the practice of musicians working with elderly people suffering from dementia and their caretakers. The practice of ‘Music for Life Wigmore Hall and Dementia UK’ in London is being researched from the musician's perspective with the objective to transfer this approach into an exploratory project in the Netherlands.
