HanzeResearch - Entrepreneurship

"HanzeResearch - Entrepreneurship
is truly a network organisation. Professors, PhD’s, lecturers and students from six schools within Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen (Hanze UAS) cooperate in professorships, knowledge network circles and research projects.

This comprehensive and dynamic environment is held together by one binding factor: the conduct of applied research which benefits businesses in the North of the Netherlands.

Entrepreneurship, Healthy Ageing and Energy
There is always a strong link between the research projects and daily practice.

On the one hand results of applied research are implemented in our entrepreneurial education programme. Students are on the other hand stimulated to participate actively in research projects that are conducted in close cooperation with companies, specifically SMEs.

They look into subjects that are linked to social and market developments, and are relevant to larger groups of companies in the northern region. For example: which trade op portunities are there now China opens its borders? How easy is it to do business with neighbour country Germany? In which way can the touristic sector adapt to an ageing population?

Besides Entrepreneurship, Healthy Ageing and Energy are important themes that our centre focuses on. The professorship New Business Development, e.g., develops succesful business models for these sectors.

Centre for Valorisation and Entrepreneurship Groningen

In all the mentioned activities our goal is to stimulate innovation and economical value in the northern region of the Netherlands. Our close cooperation with the Centre for Valorisation and Entrepreneurship Groningen (CVO Groningen)  is a perfect example of this. The heart of the consortium consists of Hanze UAS, UMCG and the University of Groningen. Activities of the CVO Groningen are in the field of:

·         public-private cooperation;

·         entrepreneurial education and facilitating young entrepreneurs;

·         screening and scouting of knowledge.

Minister Verhagen of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation, and Halbe Zijlstra, State Secretary of Education, Culture and Science, ratified this in October 2011.

All with one purpose: a substantial increase in economical activity in North-Netherland!"
