The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation – Entrepreneurship is a network of professors, PhD graduates/professionals, lecturers, students, businesses and intensive knowledge organizations. The binding factor is the insight that knowledge regarding entrepreneurship must be developed and shared with one another. The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation aims at making this knowledge accessible within Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen to students and entrepreneurs in SME. Key in this is the research that is coordinated by the professors. In doing so, Hanze (UAS) acts as a knowledge institution that works in close cooperation with SMEs in the region. In short, the aim of The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation – Entrepreneurship is to stimulate students of Hanze (UAS) to make use of their entrepreneurial skills and to help SMEs in the region to further improve their business.
The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation – Entrepreneurship is an initiative of the School of Marketing & Management. The organisation of the centre of applied research and innovation lies in the hands of the six participating schools. The Project Board consists of the Deans of these schools, which are: The School of Marketing & Management (executive for the Project Board), the School of Financial Economic Management, the International Business School, IBK, School of Information &Communications Technology, and the School of Communication & Media.
Knowledge as a Success Factor
The world of today demands more of the entrepreneur of the future/tomorrow. According to Hanze (UAS), there are two developments that require extra attention. The playing field in which businesses operate is becoming increasingly international and information and communication technologies are changing at a high speed. This offers new opportunities to entrepreneurs which, however, can only be of an advantage if the entrepreneurs are aware of these developments. The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation – Entrepreneurship facilitates in this.
Professorships
The professors of the The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation – Entrepreneurship play an important role in the spindle between education and the field of work. Together with the knowledge network circles of Hanze (UAS), the professors contribute to strengthening the transition of the university of applied sciences to a knowledge institution. By their contacts with businesses and organisations, the professors ensure a continuous up-to-date offer in study programmes. SMEs are key in this. Employees and students are involved in carrying out research and in the development of knowledge products within the university of applied sciences.
