The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation Art & Society will be officially opened on the first of June 2011. During the same event professor Anne Nigten will be officially appointed as professor of the Research Group Pop Culture, Sustainability & Innovation. The Centre of Applied Research is formed by three Research Groups: Lifelong Learning in Music & the Arts, Pop Culture, Sustainability & Innovation and Image in Context.
The opening will take place at Minerva Academy, location Zuiderdiep, with a lively and interactive programme to which both national and international guests will contribute. The programme starts at 14.00 hours with music from Drum & Break Band Foenkk, which consists of students from the Prince Claus conservatoire and the Academy of Pop Culture. Professor Rineke Smilde will introduce the Centre of Applied Research and the research group Lifelong Learning in Music & the Arts. After this, from two stages, researchers Leo Delfgaauw, Horst Rickels and Evert Bisschop Boele will give brief presentations of their most recent findings. The ceremonial opening will be done by Chris Fictoor, leading dean of the Research Centre, followed by a creative workshop by Peter Renshaw and Sean Gregory.
After a break the official inauguration of professor Anne Nigten will take place. Anne Nigten is going to lead the Research Group Pop Culture, Sustainability & innovation. The official part will end at 17.00 hours, and the afternoon will be concluded with an experimental art setting with machine-drinks by Waanzin Producties, Electronic Lounge with a VJ-DJ act and Food Art.
