Eti de Vries is Co-ordinator and Lecturer in Professional Skills at HIT. This includes Professional Development and Orientation as well as Theatre Sports and Dutch for overseas students.

Mrs de Vries gained her MSc in Education from the University of Groningen in 1986 and followed this with a BA in French the next year. In 2001, Mrs de Vries returned to language study and gained a Masters in Portuguese Language and Culture from the University of Utrecht in 2007.

She started her career as a researcher at RION (Northern Netherlands Education Research Institute) in 1986 and from then until 2006 she ran her own communications company which gave valuable experience in handling groups and offering professional feedback and advice. From 2006 to 2009 she lectured in Communications at the Emmen campus of Stenden University.

Mrs de Vries has been a teacher, trainer/coach and certified translator. Her professional publications include; 'De effectiviteit van niveaudifferentiatie' (‘The effectiveness of differentiation between ability levels’) and 'Vandalisme: wat doet de school er tegen?' (‘Vandalism, how can schools tackle the problem?’).  In March 2010, she published ‘Theater als werkvorm in het hoger onderwijs’ (‘Theatre as a learning tool in higher education’) in the Dutch scientific magazine Onderzoek voor Onderwijs.

She joined HIT in 2008 where she is also Chair of the Admissions Committee.
