“Emergency services can reach an accident faster when they use HIT’s smart traffic guide”

“Using sensors, we designed and built a system to guide traffic through cities, in a smart way. The system actively keeps track of traffic density on each road segment. When drivers select that they want to follow the fastest route, the system will send them around busy roads. The system can also be used by the emergency services to enable them to respond faster. This is done by guiding normal traffic elsewhere and clearing the road segment around an accident. Working on socially relevant projects like this means we can apply the knowledge we have to find solutions to real life problems. Without a doubt, it’s also great preparation for our future careers.”
