Collaboration with the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil

Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen was recently visited by two Brazilian Professors from the Federal University of Viçosa.
 
Founded 85 years ago, the Federal University of Viçosa is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Brazil. During the visit opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of staff and students between the two universities was discussed. The Professors also joined a number of technical and professional skills classes at HIT and visited the sites of Groningen and Assen.

Brazil is currently making huge investments in education, with the technical domain receiving specific attention. HIT’s specialisation of sensor technology attracted the attention of the new partner. The international environment, with education and research in the English language, is also beneficial to Brazilian students. In February this year, three students from the Federal University of Viçosa will join HIT to complete a one year internship including a graduation research within HIT’s applied research centre (CENSI). As the partnership grows and develops, It is anticipated that HIT students may choose to undertake part of their Bachelor education in Brazil.
