Studying at the International Business School Groningen, the Netherlands

Welcome to the International Business School and its International Business and Management Studies!

With a student body of over 55 nationalities and staff members with diverse international business backgrounds, we can claim that we are truly "preparing professionals for the global workplace." It is the most international school within the Hanze University Groningen and the most international, economic institute in the north of The Netherlands.

Therefore, I am inviting you to join us. You can rely on IBS staff and myself to help you get your career off to a flying start!

In fact, there are quite a few reasons why you should join IBS:

  1. IBS is the oldest four-year English language International Business & Management Studies programme in the Netherlands (since 1988);
  2. During a 2008 accreditation evaluation, IBS came out as the best IBMS programme in the Netherlands;
  3. IBS offers a truly international environment: over 900 students from more than 55 different countries;
  4. Study abroad in the third year with more than 50 partner universities to choose from;
  5. Quality: IBS students are very satisfied (as shown by annual student satisfaction surveys;
  6. We are less expensive than comparable programmes in the UK / USA;
  7. Work experience at two companies is part of the programme;
  8. Finding work as an IBS graduate is easy: you can find a job at your level within two months of graduation (Elsevier [weekly magazine] survey, May 2007);
  9. Graduates of the International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) programme have the highest starting salary (€ 2,769 per month) in the Netherlands after graduation (study done by the ROA Institute 2010, more information in Dutch).

Another good reason for joining IBS is the city of Groningen, which...:

  • is the best student city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam, (NRC higher education survey, Oct 2007);
  • is the safest city in the Netherlands, (2005 national survey);
  • won the official Dutch title of 'best downtown in NL', (2006 national survey);
  • came out as best European city in a survey among its residents (EU survey among the residents of 75 different cities, July 2007) on aspects such as amenities, facilities, safety, clean air, etc: (2nd Leipzig, 3rd Krakow).

We hope to see you at IBS!
