IBS students finalists in NRG Battle
IBS is proud to announce that several IBMS students are now finalists in the international NRG Battle which will take place in November at the Martini Plaza in Groningen.

Honours students raising money for Kenya

Eleven students of the IBS Hanze Honours Programme and three lecturers of the International Business School (IBS) of Hanze University of Applied Sciences (UAS), Groningen, will be going to Mombasa (Kenya) for six weeks at the end of this month. They will work on several projects, like helping the fire brigade in Mombasa to increase their publicity among the local population, and supporting apprentices to set up their own tailoring. Furthermore, they will help professionalize the administration of a primary school.

Intercultural Workshops
Once again, IBS faculty members recently took part in intercultural competence workshops given by Mr. Michael Vande Berg, PhD, author of a wide range of publications on international education topics. The workshops were organised to help support our students interact more effectively and appropriately with culturally different others.

International Research Project on interregional cooperation between companies in the energy industry

Hochschule Emden/Leer, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen (Hanze UAS) & Centers of Competence are conducting an International Research Project on interregional cooperation between companies in the Energy industry. In February of 2012, the Hochschule Emden/Leer and the Hanze UAS started a project aiming at identifying opportunities for cooperation between Small & Medium sized Enterprises (SME’s) in the Northern Dutch-German border area.

Master in EurAsian Business and Management
Starting September 2013, the International Business School will offer a 16-month full-time Master programme in EurAsian Business and Management for graduates who have completed a Bachelor degree in Business and Management or in a business-related discipline, such as Economics or Management Studies.

Three first year IBMS students are now finalists in the international NRG Battle which will take place on 23 November 2011 during the Delta Energy Conference at the Martiniplaza in Groningen.  Eelke Arjaans, Hauke von Waaden, Robin Balser and their team have beaten some very competitive teams and are being judged by some impressive CEO's (Gasunie, Siemens, Grontmij, etc...).

Many New Nationalities Welcomed to IBS
Nearly 400 newly enrolled IBMS and MBA students joined the International Business School in September from around the globe including countries such as India, Afghanistan, Egypt, Bhutan, Ukraine, Romania, Lithuania, Moldavia, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Norway, Somalia, China, Azerbaijan, Iran, New Zealand, Poland, United Kingdom, Vietnam, France, Spain, Greece, Italy, Germany and, of course, the Netherlands and many more from our partner universities abroad.

New Project Opening Up at IBS

The lectorate International Business received approval on a very interesting new project "Opening Up" which will develop new ways of working between entrepreneurs, government and education using social media technology. The project will be carried out together with partners in Belgium, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, Gemeente Groningen and KCO/IBS.

For students starting the IBMS programme in September 2011, the International Travel and Tourism major, currently part of the International Business and Management Programme (IBMS), will not be offered as one of the majors in IBMS but, part of the School of Facility Management.

The International Business and Management Study (IBMS) programme in Groningen scored very high in the newly released ‘Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs 2011’, a questionnaire distributed among IBMS students which researches the quality of study programmes in the Netherlands.
