The teaching and courses available at Hanze UAS have a great combination of theoretical and practical aspects. The theory is put into practice and students can then really experience how it works and what skills they need to develop before entering the business world. I feel it prepares our students in a very practical way for their future employment.

I particularly like the diversity of students at IBS and their inspiring attitudes to learning and development. The range and quality of courses offered is impressive and reflects the dedication and talent of my colleagues.

My professional background is diverse. I was a PhD researcher at The University of St Andrews for years, during which time I taught some undergraduate and masters students. Next to this, I have been active in Hospitality management in Scotland including jobs as Restaurant and Events Manager at Hotel du Vin and Duty Manager and Cocktail Bar Manager at The Golf Hotel, St Andrews.

Naturally, I aim to share my talents with my students. I try to see all of my students as the complex individual they are, each of whom has areas of expertise and areas for development. I hope to advise them on their own personal as well as academic development. The students are why I am here. I thoroughly enjoy working with them and hope to offer them as much support as they need to fulfill their potential in whichever area is important to them.

Next to teaching at IBS, I have many hobbies some of which are relatively new to me, others that go back for many years. I recently started rock climbing which I find to be great fun and a real chance to push myself mentally and physically. I love to paint, particularly outdoors. So in the summer months I will often go to the park, with my dog, and paint from nature. I enjoy singing and at the time I started at Hanze, I had gone through to the auditions for The Voice of Holland, so my career could have been very different! I have done karate for many years. I really enjoyed competing and gained my 2nd dan black belt.
