In universities of applied science, professorships are part of research groups that develop links between education, the professional environment and applied science. Professorships, headed by a professor in applied science (professor) establish and maintain connections with (non) profit institutes and with the regional corporate world. Within the professorships entrepreneurial researchers develop knowledge in interaction with society.
The professor International Business, Dr. Frank Jan de Graaf, started in February 2007. Together with the other Hanze professors, he is responsible for developing a research tradition in which lecturers and students take an active role. The professors work together in centres of applied research and innovation, in which various research themes are developed. This leads to (applied) research, contributions to conferences and (academic) journals. Frank Jan de Graaf is also research director at the International Business School.
The professorship International Business, focuses on studying different governance systems and how they impact international economic relationships and international organisations. In this, the professorship focusses on governanace, corporate social responsibility and market entry. It is specifically interested in further developing the ties with companies and researchers in the Northern part of Europe, but is also strongly developing ties with Asia.
Frank Jan’s research will focus on international trade in the Northern part of the Netherlands and the relationship between market entry, historical relations and knowledge circulation in economies in the Northern part of Europe.
