Welcome to the Prince Claus Conservatoire

Thank you for visiting our Prince Claus Conservatoire website. This is one of the most pleasant conservatoires in the Netherlands. Why? Because we are a small-scale institution of high quality. This enables us to put all our efforts into your personal development.

Passion and ambition
We only admit young people to our conservatoire who have the same passion and ambition that we have: passion for music in all its meanings: meaning for ourselves and for the world we live in.
This is what we are known for and this is why young musicians from all over the world make the conscious choice for the Young Talent Class, the Bachelor or the Master studies at the Prince Claus Conservatoire. That is why we have high scores in surveys such as the Choice Guide Higher Education and the National Student Survey.

Fulfilling your dream
Studying at the Prince Claus Conservatoire means that you may expect from us to make every effort to guide you towards a fantastic musical career.  And we expect from you to study hard in order to fulfill your own dreams. Whether you want to become a performing musician, an inspiring music teacher, a musical entrepreneur, a composer or a music researcher: it is only possible when we work hard together to accomplish your ideals!

Your own musical view
We especially work towards developing your personal view on music. Artistic and artisanal capacities are leading. But also essential are musical collaboration, social awareness, networking, communication, research and entrepreneurship in order to realize your ideals.

Profile: Music & Society
The Prince Claus Conservatoire has a special profile, called Music & Society. Because we believe that it is important and possible to stay close to your personal musical ideals and to carry these out to a broad audience. We are not afraid to experiment because: following the beaten path does not lead to unexpected discoveries. As Robbert Dijkgraaf says: “In a creative process it is not about finding the ‘on-switch’ but about not touching the ‘off-switch.”

International environment
We offer you an international environment to develop your talent as much as possible together with partners such as the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Swingin’Groningen Festival, the Peter the Great Festival, internship schools, a network of 30 conservatoires throughout the world, main sponsor GasTerra and many others. So sign up for the admission procedure and if you are qualified enough to be admitted, we will meet each other during your study period at the Prince Claus Conservatoire!
