Swingin' Groningen June 23-24-25
PCC is higly involved in this festival. The PCC Big Band will play with Benny Golson (sax) on Saturday 21:00 hrs at the Grote Markt Stage. Mr Golson will also be playing with the Joris Teepe Trio (with John Engels on drums and Rob van Bavel on piano) on Saturday at 19:45 at the Waagplein Stage. Mr Golson will give a masterclass on Friday 14:00 at the Radesingel. This event is open to the public, no entrance fee.
Furthermore, many students and alumni will be playing during the festival. To name a few: Sanem Kalfa, Evelien Storm, Izaline Calister, Kristijan Krajncan and Up on the Beat. Attached you will find a schedule of the PCC contribution to the festival. But don't forget to check out the festivalsite. There will be a number of famous artists playing at the festival like Billy Cobham, Candy Dulfer, Ruben Hein, The Ploctones and Smoove&Turell. And it's all for free!
GasTerra Talent Award - June 25th Waagplein Stage, 14:00 hrs
On Saturday June 25, 6 students of the jazzdepartment will compete for the GasTerra Award. They are: Tony Hoyting (piano), Suzan Veneman (trumpet), Jungha Lee (piano), Alexander Logozarov (guitar), Jan Ruerd Oosterhaven (bass) and Daan kleijn (guitar)
The jury consists of Anton Buijs (GasTerra), Bart Hollebrandse (jazzjournalist), Bix Jacobse (Gnix and Swingin'Groningen), Joris Teepe (head of the PCC jazzdepartment) and Sipke Bakker (PCC)
The winner wins the GasTerra Energizing Future Talent Award Challenge Cup and a checque of 1.000 euro's, made available by GasTerra. He or she will also appear on the cover of the PCCbrochure of next season!
Besides this, G-Nix will hand over a checque of 250 euro's to the winner of the Audience Award. The audience can vote on their favourite candidate by sms. During the contest you can vote for your winner bij texting "SG[space]namecandidate" to 1008. (no additional costs)
