Joost van Schaik, drumteacher at the Jazz Department of the Prince Claus Conservatoire has won the prestigious Laren Jazz Award 2008. The jury, with a.o. Dick Bakker and Cees Schrama praise his fabulous technique and his talent to bring out the best in both his fellow musicians and his students.

The Laren Jazz Award is rewarded to a young talented jazzmusician every year. Former winners were Tineke Postma, Marius Beets and Ack van Rooyen.
