Professorship Lifelong Learning Music and the Arts receives 300.000 Euros in RAAK subsidies

The Professorship Lifelong Learning Music & the Arts, a part of the Art & Society Centre of Applied Research and Innovation, will receive a subsidy of 300,000 Euros for its application entitled “Ouderen en Muziek” (Senior Citizens and Music).

The subsidy is intended for a project of the Research Group aimed at learning how to play an instrument (again) at an elderly age. The objective is, together with music teachers from the  region, to further develop teaching methodologies and market approaches for music education for people at an elderly age. Research will also be done into the question of what the benefits are of music education to older people.

The results of the project are important for both music teachers who (want to) teach the elderly and for the curriculum of the Prince Claus Conservatoire. Music teachers from the region and teachers and researchers from the Prince Claus Conservatoire are involved in the project, as well as institutions for music and for the elderly.
