The profession is changing
Orchestras are actively adapting themselves to an ever-changing environment by developing new work methods, products, projects and new media. They need musicians who have had a different, broader education from current and past orchestra members. Music schools are orienting themselves towards new forms of teaching and new target groups, such as after-school care centers and talent scouting. Concert venues are becoming increasingly involved with finding new forms of programming and new audiences.
Interaction with the professional field
Knowledge development will primarily take place through interaction with the professional field and through the carrying out of practical based research, possibly on commission from the professional work field. The Prince Claus Conservatoire maintains strategic partnerships with an extensive range of institutions at a regional, national and international level. These institutions possess important and current developmental questions and problems, which can be answered and solved by practical based research carried out by students of the Masters Program.
