Welcome to the School of Communication & Media

At the School of Communication & Media you can choose from a variety of majors, minors and specialisations. Some 2.000 students attend the school ranging from aspiring government information officials and international public relations officers to multimedia specialists and intercultural facilitators.

Focus on modern education
The school is located at the Zernike Campus, which is just a ten-minute bus ride from Groningen city centre. The school has training and tutorial rooms, computer rooms, studios, an innovation lab, silent workplaces, student workplaces for group work or individual work and workstations for reading and online access. Experienced lecturers are easily accessible and will teach you how things work in practice.

Focus on Intercultural Competencies
At the School of Communication & Media emphasis is put on developing interculural competencies. The school is dedicated to developing a knowledge base of excellence in intercultural competencies and offering services which help build effective intercultural relationships. Together with our students the school offers trainings, facilitation, consultancy and research findings in the areas of intercultural communication.

Focus on research projects
Project work includes reseach, which is embedded within organisations from the professional field. Together with industry, commerce and various organisations the School of Communication & Media identifies trends and developments in society. This knowhow is used to improve all degree programmes.

Focus on an international career
Your studies in international and intercultural communication will prepare you for an international career in public relations, corporate communication or public affairs in both the public and private sectors. On graduation you will have developed a broad understanding of international communication and the basic skills needed for a starting position in a wide range of international careers.
