Digital Public affairs: tell the story online!

On 23 April Ms. Hanneke Verhelst gave a guest lecture about Digital Public Affairs to second year International Communication students. Ms. Verhelst is a member of the Board of the Dutch Association for Public Affairs and a Public Affairs Advisor for Fleishman-Hillard, an international communication agency. She is a specialist in the energy sector and experienced in stakeholder engagement & issue management.

Communication Students make documentary on Sobibor and Demjanjuk

Groningen, January 28, 2010 - Six students of the Hanze University Groningen Communication in the context of their Media Studies graduate specialization the documentary "The echo of Sobibor" made two 'victims' of the Second World War. The documentary will be premiered on Friday, January 29th in the Remonstrantse church in Groningen.

Groningen, November 23, 2009 - Students of the School of Communication & Media organize a master class interviewing on Friday, November 27, conducted by Martin Šimek.  During this master class, Šimek teaches journalism students of the Groningen University and Windesheim the tricks of the trade by giving feedback on their interview with Jacques d'Ancona. The master class takes place from 13.15 hours in the cultural cafe in the Van Olst Tower at Zernikeplein 7 in Groningen.

Eurosim

Ever dreamed of taking over the role of a president? Or at least write his opening speech for an important event? Students of the School of Communication & Media are now offered a chance to experience what this would be like. Twenty students International Communication (IC) who chose the specialisation European Public Affairs (previously Communicating Europe) will be engaging in intercollegiate EU- US debates with 220 students from more than 20 different countries.  The yearly event is organized by the Trans-Atlantic Consortium for European Union Simulations and Studies (TACEUSS).  Eurosim will take place, this spring from 2 -5 April 2009 and will be hosted by Canisius College in Buffalo New York.  IC Teacher Astrid Berg is joining them on their trip, across the Atlantic.

Hanze University dares in Uganda

In Uganda the enrolment of girls in secondary education is low, while the number of girls who drop out of school is very large, due to social obligation, pregnancy, and disease. In order to draw attention to this problem, students from four Ugandan Technical Colleges (UTC) together with students from the School of Communication & Media (ICM) are actively involved in producing an educational film as part of an awareness campaign for the UTC’s. The project started in March 2009 and will be finished in September 2009.

Mr. Sang Chung Park and Dong Yeon Lee are visiting the School on behalf of a non-teaching staff exchange program by Chung Ang University.
