International Communication students present "profession posters."

On 31 January, first year International Communication students presented posters that they created for their project the "Professional Orientation."

The posters were assessed by teachers as well as fellow students. We spoke to one of the participants, first year International Communication student Annika Lüdke, and asked her about her group project:

What was your assignment?
Our assignment was to choose an organization and do team work research to find information about different communication areas and learn about working in the field of communication.

Which organization did you focus on and why?
We focused on the United Nations since they work for a good cause, offer excellent career opportunities and we all are interested in working for an NGO.

What is the idea behind the poster?
We combined our knowledge of the three core areas we have chosen (internal and intercultural communication and Public Relations (PR)) and the information of the UN with creative work for the poster- lots of pictures and impressions of different cultures, flags of the member states and the logo in the centre of the poster.
We also applied media skills and communication theories. The idea was to represent the working tasks and to show people who benefit from the UN.

Could you name a few career prospects for IC students?
PR writer, PR consultant, PR editor, Event Manager, Press Officer, Development Manager, Human Resources Officer

What did you learn from this project?
We found out about the professions and skills needed to work for the UN, the organizational units of the UN and their special work tasks. In addition, we improved personal skills like team work, time management and research.
