Introduction

This semester consists of two parts: The Transition and the PR Crisis.

During the first half of the semester you will work in the setting of a major organisational change, including implementation of new organisational policy within an international context. Possible cases include a merger or take-over. Your communication agency has been asked to advise the management how to facilitate the transitional phase through communication. You will need to make an organisational analysis and through observation and a communication audit, attempt to understand the transitional process on which the organisation is about to embark.

In the second half of the semester you will be role-playing a crisis simulation. The simulation focuses on a current issue threatening the organisation. You are expected to come up with a well-developed communication plan just as the media and public are starting to ask questions. Sending the right message at the right time is of crucial importance. You have to carry out your role as a spokesperson at an international press conference.
