In the third year of the International Communication major students will go abroad to study at one of our partner universities for one semester and to do an internship for the duration of 20 weeks.
Depending on the students' study-track, the third-year internship takes place from early September until the end of January, or from early February to the end of June.
Students participate in the organisations' communications activities, combining day-to-day tasks with a special assignment. This assignment addresses the specific international communication needs of your organisation.
At the same time, you provide the student with a broad view of the tasks of a communication professional. The student is supervised by a lecturer within the International Communication programme, while the responsibility of the daily processes of the internship within your organisation, remains in your hands.
Suitable internship activities include:
- Communication audits, communication research and advice for the benefit of your company.
- Designing a communication campaign and/or event.
- PR activities in an international context.
- Facilitation and intermediation in culturally diverse groups.
- Crisis communication planning.
The intern may be regarded as a prospective employee in training. Hence, the internship should be based on a process of phased independence, in which the student goes from supported activities to the independent performance of tasks.
