General information

The main challenge for every IT organization is to meet the demand of the user community with services of the expected quality at the expected price. The world of IT is ever changing, driven by new technology that create more user features. At the other hand the business is changing just as rapidly, adjusting to stay in the market and responding to its client’s needs and wishes. IT Management is right in the middle of this turbulent work field.

The 5 months course of IT Management provides a thorough overview. You will familiarize yourself with three main methodologies that are current in this work field: ITIL 2.0, its successor: ITIL 3.0 and Prince2. Also CMMi is briefly touched.

For this course we have a close co-operation with one of Philips sectors: Consumer Lifestyle. Their day-to-day materials and cases are used as learning materials in the course.

Hands on practice will be gained in Change and Release management, where you will actually perform a role in the implementation of a change within Philips. On the subject of IT management you will be asked to write an advise on an organizational change in Philips, where the IT organization must adjust to changing business needs.

On Service Level Management you will learn to design and negotiate service level agreements. The last subject of the course is (out)sourcing, where you will familiarize yourself with the purchasing process of IT service.
