International Law, a practical approach




General information

About the International Law programme
The certificate and exchange programme of the specialisation International Law addresses a large variety of subjects including aspects of European Law, Business Law and Ethics. The basics of the European Union will be discussed as well. Both legal courses and skills training courses will be part of the programme. The programme is a set programme of 30 EC and the language of communication and instruction is English. There is a possibility of taking single modules.

Project-Centred Education
The aim of the programme is to apply acquired knowledge to practical situations which are presented in the form of projects. The focus of this so-called Project-Centred Education (PCE) is on active learning. Throughout your studies you will work with foreign students in project groups, thus improving your intercultural communication and language skills.

Open to
The programme is open to exchange students, foreign students with basic knowledge of law (3rd of 4th year undergraduate) and to regular Hanze University students as well as students of other Dutch universities of Applied Sciences( 3rd or 4th year undergraduate). The common field of interest: business and management, labour relations and law.
The exchange students are selected by their home institution. Please contact your institutional or exchange coordinator.

Students need to have a good to advanced level in written and spoken English in order to successfully participate in International Law and be able to complete the programme.
The required level for admission is B2 (= Independent User, Vantage/Upper-Intermediate level) in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), comparable to IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT Total minimum score 87-109 or TOEIC Speaking and Writing minimum score 160 and 150.
