Way of teaching

With about 120 employees and 1,800 students, the School of Marketing Management secures high quality education on a small scale. Our dedicated team consists of lecturers specialized in the fields of Marketing, Communication, Entrepreneurship and Languages. Most of our lecturers have a Master's degree. Many lecturers have years of experience in business or run their own company.

Interactive way of learning
Students and lecturers stimulate each other in an informal atmosphere. Most teaching takes place in groups of about 30 students. As opposed to massive lectures, this provides a more interactive way of learning and direct contact with fellow students and lecturers. The groups consist of Dutch students, mixed with exchange students.

Projects in small student groups
Students also work a lot on projects in small student groups (about 6 students). In this way theory is linked up to practice. This method of education: case-based and linked to how things are done in practice, aims at increasing the independence of students. Besides that, we are convinced that working together prepares students for their future jobs. Important skills are trained, such as: how to have constructive meetings, how to chair a meeting, how to cooperate and write a report. Communicative skills are also important, e.g.: speaking in groups, listening, anticipating, and discussing. Project groups are composed of as many different nationalities as possible. Of course, project groups are supervised by experienced coaches.

House Rules
To prepare students for a responsible job in trade and industry, the School of Marketing Management introduced House Rules with regard to professional behaviour in general, behaviour in class, handing in assignments, e-mail communication, visiting lecturers and illness. One important rule is that students should be present 100% in classes. Please read the House Rules carefully, also with regard to the consequences when students do not live up to the rules.
