The present energy market is like a balance. A balance with on one site the non sustainable energy sources and at the other site the renewable energy resources. It is now strongly dominated by the non sustainable energy resources but will in the near future be determined by renewable energy resources. However, the variability of these renewable sources of electricity poses technical and economical challenges when integrated on large scale.
Renewable energy resources like solar and wind are strongly unpredictable causing an unbalance in supply and demand of electrical energy. To facilitate the introduction of these energy resources load leveling is necessary.
Load leveling can be realized by a top down approach or by a bottom up approach. Secondly the various methods can be private initiatives or public decisions.
In this research several decentralized solutions will be discussed.
