Within the domain of Pop Culture the students learn skills on basic or advanced level, which enable them to develop artistic musical and/or visual interdisciplinary concepts independently, and to realise and/or market them. They do this both on their own initiative and in an applied way, usually on commission, for a variety of target groups.
The minor offers knowledge of current pop culture, which they follow closely. They have their own views about what they can contribute to pop culture. In addition, students develop specific skills in with respect to conceptualisation and/or their musical instrument(s), graphical design and/or spatial design, audio visual design and the related technical aspects, and/or business skills in relation to their profession.
The students also develop skills, which enable them to function in creative teams. Students are working on two of seven main tasks from the curriculum of the Academy of Pop Culture.
Assessment
Every ten weeks there is an assessment week at the Academy of Pop culture. This means that the students have the possibility to get assessed twice during the minor on their work that they have done and their personal development.
Prerequisite(s)
After you signed in, there will be an intake procedure based on two main motives:
- We want to know what the students expectations are for the minor at the Academy of Pop Culture. This is in order to find out if the student can reach those goals here.
- Placement in one of the production houses is based on the projects or goals that the students have described in their intake documents.
Documents
We need an motivation letter (about 300 words) and a project plan (about 2 A4 pages) from the students. In the project plan the students describe the projects they would like to perform and the competences they want to develop. The competences are correlated to the described projects. You will find an overview of the competences attached.
This minor is only meant for:
- Students from Erasmus partner Schools of the Academy of Popculture and Academy Minerva.
