Travel and Tourism

The minor Travel and Tourism is a new addition to an outstanding set of 4th year specialisations offered through the School of Facility Management. This 30 ECTS programme is a perfect way of starting your 4th year of studies, with a truly international orientation.

The minor prepares students for entry level management positions within the tourism sector, including hospitality management, travel operations and services management. The student will be introduced to the basic principles of tourism, will know how to research a tourism issue, and will be introduced to current issues and trends in tourism, such as corporate social responsibility, destination management and customer relations.

The minor Travel and Tourism has two distinct elements, Supply and Demand. The supply elements includes the organisations that provide the products and services for the industry, such as resorts, airlines, travel agents, tour operators, car rental, amusement parks. The demand side looks at customer motivation and expectations, economic factors that affect tourism demand and future trends in the industry. The essence of the industry is finding the right balance between the players in the industry to ensure a balance between profitability (industry) and enjoyment (tourist).

Target audience
The minor is organized by the School for Facility Management and is open to all Hanze students (fulltime, part-time and exchange) that meet the prerequisites. Students that enjoy a balance between individual and group work will find this an attractive minor.
