Why have you chosen to study International Law?
I was studying law for 3 years already. That was, however, only about the Dutch law. I wanted to know more about other laws as well. To see the difference and to learn about the rules of the European Union.
What did you learn from it, so far? And what do expect to have learned at the end of the semester?
Although it says International Law, it is until now, only European law. So I learned a lot about that! About the rules which apply, like contract law and freedom of workers. I like the freedom of workers especially. There is a lot of abuse of workers in the EU, and now I know more about it, I can maybe someday help them.
At the end of the semester I hope to know a lot about European law, and to have learned a little about international law.
Do you have Extracurricular activities besides your study?
I am the student assistant for the International Law programme, which consists of gathering information, helping out exchange students en organizing excursions.
Share your Talent, Move the World’ is the name of the new campaign of the Hanze University. This is why, we would like to know…….. Are you a socially responsible person concerned with improving society or creating a better world? Do you like to be of assistance to others? All this in relation to your study programme.
For example, as a student assistant I helped to plan a excursion to Bremen Hochschule. When students want to know something, they can come to me and I can help them. And not only as a student assistant, but in other things as well I like to be of assistance to others.
Next year I hope to do my internship somewhere where I can really help people which are in greet need and eventually improve society. I would like to focus on the abuse of women and children in poor countries.
What is your future goal in relation to your international ambitions?
I really don’t know yet! After this study I want to study Criminology and after that…
