Why did you choose to teach at the Institute of Sport Studies?
I had a research (publishing journal articles, Editorial Board of the Jpirmal of Sport of sport Tourism) and teaching interest in sport and tourism (from my days at the University of Luton UK) and approached the Institute of Sport Studies and offered to teach this course for them. It went from there really.
What is the link between your field of expertise and sport(s)?
Over the last twenty years the two disciplines of Sport and Tourism have been moving closer together. The popularity of international and national sporting events, together with an increase in sport related holidays has meant an increased importance and interest in this sector.
What do you think is the greatest challenge in your work?
Dutch people and cultural differences!
Do you practice any sport yourselves?
I used to play a lot of football, badminton and squash now I play snooker, walk and cycle.
