Mindfulness training is a ‘mental fitness training’ in which you learn to focus your attention on the present moment and everything that happens at that moment (thoughts, feelings, physical sensations) in a non-judgmental way. Mindfulness practice cultivates the ability to disengage from worry and self-defeating negative thinking. The increased capacity for non-judgmental, present moment awareness has the effect of giving you the choice to respond skilfully rather than to react in an automatic fashion to external or internal pressures.
