Please note that enrolment for the Master of Business Administration for next academic year (2019-2020) is not possible for new students.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an 18 month, full-time programme in which you learn to integrate the main business processes of organisations into effective and efficient corporate strategy. In addition, you learn to deal with the diverse and sometimes diverging interests of various stakeholders involved in international business. The programme focuses on (strategic) leadership and management in a (inter)national business context, under new economic realities.

The MBA requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and prepares graduates for senior and general management positions. Work experience is required for this programme as this greatly contributes to the content of the study. During the master, you learn to find ways to add value to your work experience. Moreover, the different work backgrounds of your classmates add value to the classes and make for a unique environment through which you can expand your horizon.

Educational concept

Educational concept

Our overall educational concept is characterized by small group sizes, and intensive contact between students and staff. Next to lectures and workshops, you work both individually and in teams on practice-based and experience-based projects and case studies. Within our Living Labs, you interact with the world of professional practice through guest lectures by entrepreneurs, senior business executives and knowledge experts, seminars, real-life consultancy projects and company visits. Our teaching staff is selected to ensure an interesting mixture of business experience and expertise in applied research. Throughout the programme the integration between different knowledge areas is strongly emphasized.

The concept of multidisciplinarity gives every course a unique setting, which prepares you for complex decision making in a dynamic international business environment. To create a business plan, get a go-ahead and begin implementation of the plan, you must communicate and cooperate with external stakeholders, as well as colleagues in all layers of an organisation. Therefore, the master also has a strong focus on developing intercultural competences that you can apply in an authentic business setting.

Master thesis

Master thesis

During the second semester you will select a topic and business setting for your MBA thesis that you will write in the third semester. In your thesis you will research a real question for a real client from a company or organisation. This could also be linked to setting up your own company.

Your future

Our alumni success

A comprehensive LinkedIn research published in November 2017 showed that our graduates are employed in a wide variety of companies and business-related professions worldwide, including those following entrepreneurial and start-up career paths. Over 800 unique LinkedIn profiles were assessed, representing IBS alumni currently located in over 60 different countries. Popular areas of activity were management, finance & accounting, project management, sales, and marketing.

In addition, many alumni have established their own company or consultancy or have top management positions. The research confirmed that an IBS graduate can forge a successful career and has a high value within both the job market and society as a whole. Among the array of global companies listed in the research, IBS alumni are employed by Google, IBM, Rabobank, Volkswagen, PWC, EY, and Philips.
