Student Blog: Study in quarantine – 3 tips from MIC students #1
We all know that during this period, when people should stay at their homes, it is hard sometimes to concentrate on the study process and to keep up with the learning curve. So, we decided to ask our peers to give some practical tips about how actually to study in such circumstances as quarantine and to show how they are doing their routine being in different places of the world in the video. There are some useful points that our classmates mentioned to manage the study at home.
Tip 1: Comfort with a cup of coffee
One of the most common advice which three students point out is to have comfortable surroundings where nothing can distract you and where you feel cozy. Both Nerea from Spain and Camilla from Italy highlight the importance of the warm cup of coffee or tea to create this nice environment. Camilla said: "Get yourself a cup of coffee/tea, find the spot in the house where you feel comfortable and open that book!"
Katya from Russia also emphasizes the importance of feeling the comfort when you are staying at home. She recommends: "Don't panic, that will end one day, every time you feel uncomfortable grab a matcha latte and try to balance your breathing".

Tip 2: How do you stay focused?
Another crucial question during quarantine is how to stay concentrated and not to lose motivation when you have a lot of time at home. Caro and Marlene from Germany, who currently live together in Groningen, believe that finding a daily routine is valuable. They explain: "We decided to get up in the morning, prepare breakfast together, afterward we do a yoga session together and then we either work together on things for university or sometimes we just work in our room, so we won't distract each other".
Nerea's advice to keep the study rhythm is to take off the pajama and put on the street clothes before you start studying. That helps to actually prepare yourself for the study routine. Another practical tip from Katya is to create a to do list for the next day. "That will help you to not to watch Netflix 24/7. At least 10/7…" – so she believes.

Tip 3: Importance of fresh air
When you cannot focus anymore on the study, Caro and Marlene suggest "to go outside for a walk and clear minds and afterward continue with university work". The importance of fresh air also acknowledges Nerea. Moreover, she also suggests to make some breaks not to be overwhelmed with the information and to take fresh air to clear the head.
This is the first part of advice from our MIC classmates concerning studying at home. Next week part two will follow! To end this first part we have one more important advice from Katya: "Stay safe and try to not do online shopping as much as I did in April…". See you next week!
