Another triumph for Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen in the field of entrepreneurship

According to the 2018 U-Multirank results published today, Hanze UAS is in 6th place worldwide in the subcategory for 'graduate companies', i.e. companies founded by alumni. Hanze UAS holds first place in this category within the Netherlands. In the worldwide subcategory for ‘regional joint publications’, Hanze UAS achieved 7th place (regional engagement category). Within the Netherlands, Hanze UAS holds first place in this subcategory as well. The participants in these two categories numbered 1614 institutions from 95 countries.

Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen is very proud of these results, as education at our university of applied sciences focuses strongly on entrepreneurship. From the very first year, our degree programmes incorporate entrepreneurship into the curriculum. Students can use their own business as the basis for their graduation project, and we also offer more than ten minor programmes in the field of entrepreneurship. Furthermore, students can benefit from our Outstanding Entrepreneurs Scheme.

Hanze UAS invests in entrepreneurship through the Groningen Agreement and in collaboration with the business community in the northern part of the Netherlands. The Deloitte Fast 50 ranking also points to our region being a very strong player in the field of entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is one of the focus areas of Hanze UAS. Innovating Together, the strategic plan for 2016 – 2020, includes the ambition to start up 500 new companies each year from 2020 onwards, resulting in 5000 new jobs.

The 2018 U-Multirank results were published on www.umultirank.org today. This European ranking considered over 1500 research universities and universities of applied sciences from over 99 countries worldwide. U-Multirank has been carrying out its research since 2011, with support from the European Commission, and publishes its rankings annually.
