​​Partners of the research group Lifelong Learning in Music, besides conservatoires and universities, are also institutions from the professional practice, such as orchestras and other art organisations. Together with partner institutions the research group organises pilots projects which provide important input for the concept of Lifelong Learning. The projects can be cross-arts and cross-sector projects as well. There is also an exchange of expertise, for example during symposia and congresses where the partner institutions are represented.

The Centre for Performance Science (CPS) promotes collaborative research among musicians and scientists, and offers a distinctive programme of teaching, events, and services at the Royal College of Music (RCM). Founded in 2000, the CPS benefits from its position within a vibrant musical environment and is well placed to explore the interface between skilled artistry and scientific discovery.

Rhythm for Life, RCM
As part of an expanding focus on health and wellbeing, the CPS launched Rhythm for Life in February 2010. Funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Rhythm for Life aims to enhance wellbeing among older adults in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, a London Borough that has one of the largest disparities of wealth in the UK and sizeable areas of deprivation. Over a two year period, participants will be offered opportunities to learn and make music in individual, small-group, and workshop settings, delivered by RCM students. The effects of their training on health, wellbeing, and social engagement will be monitored throughout.

Rhythm for Life is a partnership between the RCM, London, the Research Group Lifelong Learning in Music, Kensington & Chelsea Primary Care Trust, Yamaha Music Education, and University of the Third Age.

The AEC, founded in 1953, represents the interests of those institutions concerned with training and education for the music profession. Today the AEC includes representatives from over 200 institutions in 48 countries. Seventy percent of its members are located within the European Union, while fourteen associate members are based in seven countries in North America, Asia and Australia. The Association wants to achieve its goals by stimulating and supporting international collaboration between member institutions; realising various international projects about relevant subjects in professional music training; organising an Annual Congress and various specific seminars and representing the interests of the professional music training sector on national, European and international level.

The educational department of the Concertgebouw has a programme of projects for pupils of secondary schools and schools for further education. Emphasis in these projects is on active listening and active involvement. This is why pupils get the opportunity to play and sing themselves, and to create and perform their own musical programmes. This approach has given more than 30.000 pupils the opportunity to get acquainted with different musical genres, such as classical, jazz and world music. The educational department also develops courses and workshops for very young children or whole families, as well as activities with singing and playing for adults.

YO! International Youth Opera Festival

Yo! Foundation was set up in 2003 to contribute to the international development of youth opera in the form of a biennial festival and special projects. The aims of the foundation are to introduce unusual, appealing forms of opera to a broad audience; to raise (inter)national youth opera to a higher level and to promote the quality and quantity of the repertoire. Next to that the foundation aims to generate a culture of inquiry and experiment among a new generation of youth opera composers, performers and directors. The main activity of Yo! Foundation is the International Youth Opera Festival (Yo! Festival). The foundation also produces one or two special educational or developmental projects each year and advises young professionals working in the field of youth opera on the implementation of their plans.

NetMCDO is an organisation of music career advisors at conservatoires and schools which share ideas, information, and sources. NetMCDO celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2005. Founded by music career advisers of the New England Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music in the United States, NetMCDO is now a thriving network with members all across the world. The Network communicates via an active email service - the regular distribution of information, sources, and ideas - and holds an annual conference each January at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

Dominique Citroen has extensive knowledge of all aspects of the music business and founded her own consultancy agency in 2008. As a professional performing musician she also played in renowned ensembles. She has been organising schooling projects, coordinating funding applications by and for producers, and acted as mediator and coach for musicians since 1998. Dominique Citroen has been a consultant of music for the National Bureau of Arts & Media (Landelijk Bureau Kunsten & Media, now UWV) since 1995, and is responsible for coaching and mediation for musicians seeking employment.

Wigmore Hall is one of the most highly respected chamber music centres in the world. Wigmore Hall Learning provides access to chamber music and song through innovative creative programmes, online resources and events. It invites a broad audience to get involved in music making of the highest standard, particularly focusing on those who may be excluded from regular arts provision. Connections are made through projects and partnerships, using music to inspire people, open opportunities and enhance learning and development. The research group LLM has been working with Wigmore Hall Learning since September 2009.

Music for Life Wigmore Hall and Dementia UK, in collaboration with Jewish Care
Music for Life is a project that has pioneered and developed interactive, creative music workshop programmes for people living with dementia. Work takes place in residential homes, hospitals, extra care housing and day care centres. The project aims both to enhance the quality of life of its participants and to demonstrate to staff the emotional, social and physical potential of people in their care. Its focus is on people who can be isolated and disempowered as a result of the advanced stage of their dementia. Music for Life was founded by Linda Rose in 1993 and has been developed in association with Jewish Care and a growing team of musicians. Music for Life is now managed by Wigmore Hall Learning in partnership with for dementia, a national charity, committed to improving the quality of life for all people affected by dementia.
