We will keep you informed of the situation regarding the weather, accessibility and what that means for Hanze here. New updates are always at the top.

Update Friday 9 January 12.00

Weekend 10/11 January

  • On Saturday 10 January, the buildings of the Prins Claus Conservatorium, Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts and the MRI centre at the Wiebenga location will be open according to the usual opening hours.

  • On Sunday 11 January, only the Prins Claus Conservatorium will be open.

Outlook Monday 12 January
The weather forecasts are still uncertain. Based on the current predictions and reports, we assume that we will be able to reopen regularly next week and exams, tests and classes will resume on location and the advice to work from home will be lifted. However, the following will continue to apply:

  • Leave on time and keep a close eye on the current travel information (Qbuzz, Arriva, NS).

  • If you cannot come to a location, but it is necessary for tests, exams or your programme, please contact your study programme.

  • Safety comes first. Take care of yourself and others. When making choices, take your safety into account.

We are closely monitoring the situation and we will give an update on next week on Sunday morning, no later than 12:00 noon. Keep an eye on this news blog and Instagram.

Today, January 9, the following applies:

  • Planned theory lessons will not take place on location and will be given online as much as possible.

  • Exams and tests on location will not take place and will be rescheduled. Students will receive further information about this from their study programme.

  • Practical lessons will not take place, with the exception of Dental Hygiene (due to patient care). Dental Hygiene students can contact their teacher about this.

  • Employees work from home, unless work does not allow this.

  • All buildings are closed, with the exception of: Prins Claus Conservatorium, the MRI centre at the Wiebenga location.

Update January 7 16.00

All Hanze buildings will be closed on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 January. Only the Prins Claus Conservatorium is open between 8.30 and 17.00.

Update 7 January 14.30

The weather forecast and the situation regarding public transport remain uncertain for the coming days. Because the safety of staff and students is paramount and we want to provide clarity, the crisis team has decided that no classes or examinations will take place on site on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 January either.

This means:

  • Scheduled theory classes will not take place on campus and will be taught online as much as possible.
  • Exams and tests on campus will not take place and will be rescheduled. Students will receive further information about this from their programme.
  • Practical classes will not take place, with the exception of Dental Hygiene (due to patient care). Dental Hygiene students can contact their lecturer for more information.
  • Staff will work from home, unless their work does not allow this.

Follow-up
The buildings will be open until 5 p.m. today. We are investigating whether (some of) the buildings will remain open or close on Thursday and Friday. This is separate from the decision that lessons and examinations will not take place on site. An update on the buildings will follow no later than 5 p.m. today.
By 12 noon on Friday at the latest, we will provide information about opening hours on Saturday and any measures for next week.

Update 7 January 10.30

  • Het crisis team has met this morning and is working on scenarios for the next few days.

  • At 1 p.m. the team will meet again. An update will be issued 3 p.m. at the latest.

  • The buildings close at 5 p.m. today.

The following will continue to apply today:

  • Scheduled theory classes on campus will be given online as much as possible.
  • Exams and tests on campus will not take place today.
  • Scheduled practical classes will also not take place, with the exception of the practical classes for Life Sciences and Dental Hygiene. We ask students to contact the lecturer of their programme for more information.
  • The buildings will remain open. Keep a close eye on the news blog on hanze.nl, mijnhanze.nl and on Instagram for new information about the coming days.
  • Also check the communication from your study programme or team for specific information about schedules and appointments.
