Who can I turn to with questions or problems?

As a Hanze student, there are several people you can turn to if you have any questions or encounter difficulties. We have a shared responsibility in this. As a student, you are expected to actively inform yourself and not keep questions or problems to yourself.

This may not be what you are used to, but we expect you to take the initiative when you need help or advice.  Hanze provides you with adequate information, regularly engages with you, and thinks along with you about which facilities can help remove study obstacles as much as possible.

Academic Counsellors

If you have questions or if something is going on, you can always reach out to your academic counsellor. The academic counsellor is your personal guide and first point of contact during your studies. You can contact your counsellor with questions about your study programme, such as the curriculum and the choices you can make within it. Your academic counsellor can also help you with personal questions or refer you to the right person within the Hanze. At the start of your studies, you will be informed who your student counsellor is.

Special Need Advisor

Do you need extra support due to special (family) circumstances, a disability, or a (chronic) illness? Then you can contact the special needs advisor of your programme. The special needs advisor can help you with questions or problems before and during your studies. They have specialist knowledge and extra time to guide you when special circumstances require it.

Hanze Student Support

In addition to the academic advisors within your programme, there are also the coaches, student psychologists and student counsellors of Hanze Student Support. These professionals can help you if, for example, you need a course or training during your studies. You can also contact Hanze Student Support if you experience study delay, are looking for low-threshold psychological support, have financial questions or need exam accommodations.

The overview above is not complete. There are also study choice advisors and confidential counsellors within the Hanze. If necessary, the people mentioned above will refer you to the right place.
