Terrence is the head of department agriculture at National Instructors College Abilonino. He has been very involved in the OKP project.

“We used to do everything on the blackboard in the agricultural classes. When OKP came in, we identified some gaps in the way we deliver the practical’s to students. Now we can bring them to these different plots on campus where they can actually practice the skills and grow crops. It also helps the students in an entrepreneurial aspect so much. This is because of the percentage of the profit from the crops we offer them. The students receive 50% of the profit from the crops. The college receives 20% and the supervisors receive 30%. Planting crops on the blackboard? No, we don’t want that anymore”

“The OKP project also brought in an irrigation system. During the dry season, we could not plant crops, but since they brought the irrigation system, we have been able to carry out farming activities throughout the year.”

“During COVID times they helped us engage in productions and we developed a new curriculum. It has not yet been implemented, but it is almost ready to go.”

“The community around should also benefit from the college, which is why we always advise them to come and learn certain things like how to grow crops.”
