Crash course Classical Music

The Crash course is meant for candidates who wish to prepare themselves for the general theoretical part (theory and ear training) of the entrance exam Classical Music of the Prince Claus Conservatoire. At the end of the course they can, if they wish to do so, take part in a practice theory exam for Classical Music.

​Contents of the course

The course material includes theoretical aspects of: music notation, key and key signatures, rhythm, intervals, scales, chords and chord symbols and the harmonic analysis of classical repertoire. Apart from that, ear training is given in the domain of scales, intervals, chords, melody, harmony and rhythm. At the end the participants of the crash course can take part in the testing at the end of the course.

Teacher

Frans Douwe Slot is teacher general theoretical subjects in the department of Classical Music at the Prince Claus Conservatoire.

Study load

Depending on the individual circumstances the study load is approximately 20 hours.

  • Mock exam: March 28st 2024. 16.00-17.15h.
