An organisation is not a machine. It is a living system of people workin together towards a common goal. In the theme ‘People & Organisation’ you will learn how to understand organisations by looking at what really matters: the people who work there, how they work together, what thrives them.

What will you learn?

In this theme you will discover how organisations function from a human perspective. You will learn:

  • How organisations are built up – and why that matters.
Think about structure (who does what, who decides about what?) and culture (how do we interact?) You will learn how these factors influence how people feel, work together, and perform.
  • How to get the right talent at the right place.
You will get acquainted with HRM (Human Resource Management): how do you find the right people, how do you guide them, and how do you help them grow? You will learn how to build an organisation where people can thrive.
  • How to understand and influence behaviour.
Why do people do what they do? How do teams work together? And how can you change behaviour for the better? You will learn to look at individual and group behaviour – and how to respond to it as a professional.
  • How to develop leadership – for yourself and others.
Leadership is not just about being the boss. It is about giving direction, motivating, listening, and having difficult conversations. You will learn how to do this, in a way that suits you.
  • How to communicate with impact.
Whether giving feedback, conducting a job interview or motivating a team – you will learn conversation skills you will need for the rest of your life.

Why is this important?

An organisation might have the perfect plan – but if people don’t work well together, not much will get done. By learning how people behave and interact within organisations, you can really make a difference. You will be able to help teams perform better, build a positive work environment and support others in growing their talents.

  • Basic knowledge of HRM and organisational studies

  • Leadership skills and self reflection
  • Effective communication and conversation techniques
  • Critical analysis of culture and structure
