The differences between people are constantly increasing. Equal opportunities and participation reduce these differences. At Hanze, we are working on an educational and research environment in which this idea takes centre stage. Our aim is to promote equal opportunities and participation for people in various social settings, including in special education and within care institutions.
The theme equal opportunities & participation focuses on all age groups (children, youth/young adults, adults, older people) with attention to inclusion and diversity. Our expertise lies particularly with the 0-30 age group, where we aim to contribute to healthy development and mental wellbeing. We specifically focus on critical transition moments for the youth and young adults, such as transitions in education and work. Recognising, acknowledging and using experiential knowledge is essential in this context.
Equal opportunities & participation is of great importance to (youth) professionals in the social domain, healthcare and education. We aim to overcome professional hesitation by focusing on opportunities, resilience and possibilities, including for children and youth with special educational needs.
Our ambition is to become a respected interdisciplinary research and educational environment at regional, national and international level. We focus on practice-oriented research and innovation, with the central question: how can we provide equal opportunities and promote participation for individuals, regardless of age, abilities, limitations, gender, descent and background, in areas such as education, work, family, housing, finances, health and leisure?
