Hanze wishes to provide students in special circumstances that may affect their studies with adequate information and additional support.
During the registration process in Studielink, you will be asked the following question:
Do you have a (chronic) illness, a disability, ASD, AD(H)D, or dyslexia? Are you taking care of a family member? Or are you simply interested in what Hanze can offer if you need extra support? Please indicate if you would like to receive information.
- Yes, I would like to receive this information by email.
- No, I do not need this information at this time.
No matter which option you choose, your choice will not affect your admission and will not be shared with your programme’s lecturers.
Why do we ask this question?
If you need support, it is important that you are informed in a timely manner about the possibilities Hanze offers in this area. This will you to start your studies well-prepared and arrange appropriate support in time. For example, applying for exam accommodations in time, registering for a support course or scheduling an initial meeting with your programme’s special needs officer. You can see the available options here. The student counsellor with whom you may be advised to schedule a meeting can explain them in more detail and help you with the next steps if needed.
Will my answer affect my admission?
No. By answering “yes,” you are merely indicating that you would like to receive information. Your answer will not affect your admission or selection in any way.
If I answer “yes,” will everyone at the school know that I have a disability, illness or other issue?
No. Again, by answering “yes,” you are simply indicating that you would like to receive information about the support options Hanze offers to students. Even students without a support need sometimes answer “yes” because they are interested in this information.
Who will see my answer?
If you answer “yes,” your answer is sent to Hanze Student Support, which is composed of two office staff members and nine student counsellors. They are the only people who will know that you answered “yes.” You will receive a message from Hanze Student Support with more information and, if needed, the advice to schedule an appointment with a student counsellor. The student counsellor will be glad to guide you further.
Is my answer treated confidentially?

Conversations with a student counsellor are strictly confidential; nothing is shared with third parties without your permission.
